It is finally done! This was a lot more work than I thought it would be, but I ended up just about being able to finish it before the end of the week as planned. And yeah, it’s all on the website now.

As I said in the last blog post, the edition is split across two books: the Core Rules, and the World of the Gates of Doom. The Core Rules contain all of the rules for everything in the game, so: how the game is structured, army lists, weapon profiles, missions, everything. The second book is not necessary to play games, and instead contains a huge amount of new lore for the setting, describing every faction’s culture and history in detail, as well as giving loads of information about the setting as a whole. It’s also got a ton of pretty pictures in it.

And yeah, I am really happy with it. I was, and still am, proud of the previous version, but it was in many respects quite amateurish. It was the first time I’d written a game on this scale, and had had to make this many resources for, so it was understandably a bit rough in places. But this new version is much more polished and professional. I put a lot more effort into things like editing and formatting, I used new mediums and programmes, and I think it has come out a lot better in all respects! And that’s without mentioning the fact that the way the game itself works is now much closer to my ideal wargame - I’m sure I’ll find things to change, and at some point in the future, I will definitely make a third edition, but for now, and for the foreseeable future, this one is more than good enough for me.

What’s next? Well, it’s my plan to finish the new version of Day of Glory by the end of next week… That might not happen though. It is currently in a relatively early stage, and seeing how much work it was to finish ATGOD, even with it being mostly done already, I’m not sure if I can do it all. But I’ll certainly try, and at any rate, I will be working on it, so it’ll be out at some point relatively soon! I also plan to release something for Halloween this year - whether that’s a book or miniature, or both, I’m not sure yet, but there’ll be something. And then there’ll be more expansions for both main games down the line, as well as probably other stuff as well. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

Enjoy!
